Albania is a Mediterranean country in South Eastern Europe. It neighbors Montenegro to the north, Kosovo to the northeast, Greece to the south-east, and Macedonia to the east. The Adriatic Sea lies to the west, and the Ionian Sea lies the southwest. It has about 28,748 square kilometers, and a coastline of 362 kilometers. Most of its landscape is mountainous, rugged and even inaccessible. Its highest mountain is Korab. The largest and deepest tectonic lakes are to be found in Albania. Due to its undoubtedly value, Ohrid Lake is under UNESCO protection patrimony. More than a third part of Albania is forested so the country is very rich in flora. |
